hello. my name is Elena and i'm not sure how much this forum is used but i figured i'd give it a go. i stumbled onto this site and i wanted to come down and see what it was like at mbmc, but i'm a little nervous. i know literally nothing about buddhism, just that i feel drawn to it. i wish to learn more and to feel some comfort. is the first time you're there scary? is it like diving in head first? should i read up more on things, and what should i read?
thank you so much for listening.

I would recommend reading "Mindfulness in Plain English" by Bhante Gunaratana...it will basically tell you everything you need to know in order to get started.
I used to visit the Midwest Buddhist Meditation Center regularly and everyone there was always very friendly and generous.
I highly recommend going.
