Ven. Dr. Chuen Phangcham former Abbot at MBMC (1942-2008)
The Midwest Buddhist Meditation Center (MBMC) was established in 1992 by Ven. Dr. Chuen Phangcham as the Midwest Buddhist Association, Inc. filed and located in the State of Ohio, certified as a non-profit organization. The Center is recorded on Roll H371 at Frame 0045 of the records of Incorporation and Miscellaneous Filing on June 8th, 1992. The Midwest Buddhist Meditation Center, วัดพุทธวิหารนานาชาติมิดเวสต์, became a member of the Buddhist Council of the Midwest, a member of the Council of Thai Bhikkhus in U.S.A. in 1997, a member of Council for a Parliament of the World Religions since 1993.

Phramaha Thanaphat Tukaeo Abbot and president at MBMC
Phramaha Thanaphat was born in Kanchanaburi province, the center of Thailand. He was ordained to Buddhist monk in July 7, 1991. He completed three years of Dhamma and traditional Pali studies in Thailand. His Pali was at level 6 from Wat Na-korn Inn, Nontaburi, Thailand.
He also received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya Buddhist University in Bangkok, Thailand. in March of 2003. He completed his training in program Oversea Going Missionary Monk, Class No. 9, in the same year. The late Dr. Chuen Phangcham, former abbot of MBMC foresaw the qualifications of Phramaha Thanaphat and invited him to help with the Buddhist Missionary missions.
Phramaha Thanaphat arrived in Michigan on January 2004. As a resident monk, he worked closely with Dr.Chuen and has a great understanding of Dr.Chuen’s visions. As an abbot and president of MBMC, Phramaha Thanaphat Tukaeo will carry on the objectives of MBMC and continue to serve all the Buddhist community.
Daily Practice :
- Morning Chanting and Meditation Practice at 6:00 - 7:00 A.M.
- Evening Chanting and Meditation Practice at 6:00 - 7:00 P.M.
- Medium of instruction are Thai, Laotian and English for meditation practice and Dhamma talks
